Summary: Great Chairs at a great price!
Comment: Found these on sale for $90/pair with free shipping. So I bought 6 of them. This was an unbelievable value for teak chairs! They aren't packed really well for shipping (2 to a box) but mine arrived in decent condition and only 1 chair had any damage and it was fixable. They are very comfortable and I'm using them without seat cushions. I put 2 coats of teak oil on them and 2 coats of clear poly as well for further protection from graying. The teak wood used is clear of knots and imperfections and the grain is fairly standard thruout each piece. They really are gorgeous after being oiled. I've noticed them selling since on Amazon for up to $249/pair. I'd say if you can find them for up to $200/pair then buy them because that would still be an incredible value for these.

Comment: Chairs are great if you can ever get some that are not broken during shipping. Packaging is horrible. Better have patience and time to receive multiple shipments to get non broken chairs.

Summary: Bad Packaging
Comment: These chairs were delivered in such a damaged condition, it looked like they had been dragged behind the delivery truck. The cardboard packaging was torn and dented and had been re-taped several times, and the chairs themselves were broken. The meager amount of styrofoam protection was broken to bits inside the box. We sent them back, reporting the sorry condition, and asked for replacements. When the replacements arrived, the boxes were in no better condition, and we refused delivery without even opening them (we could see through an open seam in one box that one of the chairs inside was broken). It is unfortunate that the manufacturer would waste perfectly good merchandise by not providing adequate packaging.

Summary: You can never have enough teak
Comment: This is my second set of two teak chairs from Strathwood through Amazon. The first set has already been reviewed - they were made in Indonesia (see 'All my reviews'). This set is slightly different and is of a good quality of teak and is made in China. This pair feels slightly larger and more comfortable if anything.

The quality of manufacture is good, but you must know that to really enjoy teak that comes as bare wood, you have to polish or oil it to bring out its beautiful color. By actual count, each chair will use one full spray furniture wax can. You will need multiple applications.

You can, of course, leave it bare and let it weather outside to a gracious grey. Teak is quite stable dimensionally - it may outlast you. You can leave it outdoors all summer, rain and sun notwithstanding.

Alternatively, you can use these chairs, as I do, both indoors and outside. They are attractive enough to us as dining chairs inside. Oh! and I almost forgot to mention - you'll be glad to know that there is NO ASSEMBLY REQUIRED - the two chairs just come stacked in a large box that the truckers will bring around back or inside for you. (It won't hurt you to tip them $10 or so for getting it to you in good condition and bringing it inside)
